Are you staying up to date with the tragic consequences of war? The Iraq Body Count keeps a minimum and maximum running total of civilian casualities reported via news sources. You can even view the reported deaths in an incident by incident table.
For instance, while mainstream western sources reported 7 casualties when American soldiers opened fire on that family the other day, many other sources have it at 10, with an additional Iraqi dying at the hospital as a result of his injuries. Most western sources also fail to report (or downplay) the angle that many international sources have confirmed: soldiers did not respond to a command for firing warning shots into the radiator of the van. Consequently, the soldiers were forced to shoot the occupants of the van having not given them sufficient warning. At least, thats what I got out of what I can get my hands on. Mind-numbingly sad stuff.
