Here I am in Wanganui, a small college town in NZ where Steph is studying.
We've done so much shit, I can't even begin to summarize. Hopefully, the 6 or 7 rolls of film (plus Stephs digital snaps which should go up at some point) will help my tangled tongue. In short; beautiful country - like Ontario with some actual ups and downs, nicer weather, and way cooler trees. It only rained once, which I'm told is lucky. And yes, I saw loads and loads and loads of sheep. (I'm not sure if it's my overactive imagination, but I also think the cows down here have some seriously wierd looking utters .. not that I really investigated close up.)
I'll have much more to say when I'm back at home base, but I thought I'd check in just to confirm that NZ hasn't actually swallowed me whole. Its a tempting thought tho ... send Buster down here, and lets see how well I can avoid emmigration? Wonder what the job market is like down here.
I also met my doppleganger down here; Greg the smeg. I thought I had deadpan down to an art form, but Greg just schools me. I can't look at that guy without laughing .. (apparently reconstructive surgery is prohibitively expensive down here.) Who knew that on the other side of the planet, some guy was busy making the kind of sound effects I still get funny looks for from people who already know me. It's uncanny how similar our brands of repartee is.
Also met Dave, who happens to dig Vince Carter enough to own a Raptors baseball cap. I don't think a single Torontonian is shameless enough to plug the Raptos this year, so it was funny to see the Raptors posters way out here. He was also way into hiphop .. we cut some of my beatboxing down onto Steph's digital camera. I'm told he's going to throw it into a digital movie .. a collection of hiphop shit. Cool. He also mixed some of my tunage into some movies of him and his buds playing basketball, which is ultra-cool .. I've always felt my music was more meant to compliment visual images than to stand up on its own on the dance floor (tho I can live with dual purpose.)
Well, I think that'll be the extent of this entry .. so much more, but you know, I've almost forgotten how to type. (Yay!)
T.O.'d better be warm now; its turning into the colder months here. Winter in June? How screwed up is that?!
Later peeps. Time to give the keyboard up - Steph, take it to the streets:
Hola. It's been a blast and a half since Garret landed - think I'm still gonna be on holiday mood for a bit more, but damn, got work to get back to and it ain't a fun thought.. :) Wait for pictures of our mad holiday posted up at my site!
