more updates

Hi everybody!

I'm feeling much better today. My first cheque finally came from mamma.com for contract work I'm doing for them. Tim (an ex-boss, now a current supplier of work) has more work for me to do to, so hopefully my money situation should stabilize in the next month or two.

The big news recently, not that its exactly good news, is that my cat Buster has been diagnosed as a diabetic. This means that I get to give him injections .. twice a day! Its like having a kid. He's doing fine currently, although it will take a few weeks to determine the optimal amount of insulin he should be receiving; thus, his diabetic symptoms will decrease gradually, not instantly. He doesn't mind the needles at all! I'm not sure if it's because hes just cool with the little pin prick, or if its because that by the time he needs another shot, his face is blissfully buried in his bowl of food. He has been peeing and drinking slightly less, however, which is a good sign that we're on the right track. Initially, I was very concerned that it would be near-impossible to travel because of this, but due to how incredibly easy it is to administer the insulin, I don't think I'll have trouble finding and trusting neighbours and/or friends to do the deed if I happen to be away. The whole experience was intially very overwhelming, both emotionally and financially, but the major costs are out of the way, and it will only cost me around 30$ or so a month for his insulin. The vets were really great, and they really appreciated how cool and collected he was when he was hospitalized there for two days in order to receive his initial glucose curve. He was there for not longer than 36 hours - they tell me they had another cat there the week before, getting the same testing done, that took them 7 days because that cat wouldn't even eat for the first 3 days of hospitalization. Thats Buster .. calm, cool, and collected. And lazy. I hope he didn't learn all that from me.
